Berlin-based e-scooter sharing company, Emmy, has taken over the German arm of its competitor, Felyx. The acquisition makes Emmy the largest e-scooter sharing provider in Germany. Felyx chose to sell its German operations in order to concentrate on growth in the Benelux region.
Emmy has integrated a fleet of 1,500 e-scooters into its existing network and intends to use the additional vehicles to enhance its offerings in Berlin and expand into Hamburg and Munich.
The Felyx systems will be seamlessly integrated into the Emmy platform, allowing Felyx users to easily switch to the Emmy app using their existing Felyx account and credit.
Emmy, for its part, was acquired by Israeli company GoTo Global Mobility in 2021. “Those interested in moped sharing services will quickly see the benefits of this acquisition with improved access to shared mopeds whenever required, while enjoying emmy’s market-leading service level in terms of moped quality and availability,” said Gil Laser, CEO of GoTo Global. “With this deal, we expect that at any time of day, at any day of the week, users will easily find an emmy moped in close proximity.”
“Once we made the decision to exit Germany, it was critical to find a successor who shared our vision for the future of sustainable, urban travel,” says Maarten Poot, co-founder of Dutch operator Felyx. “We have found that in emmy and we know our users will be in the best hands going forward, contributing to one of our shared visions: giving everyone the freedom to move within a greener urban environment,
making cities more livable.”
