Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, hinted at the imminent launch of Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology in China, responding to queries from users on social media. Musk’s response came as a reply to a user’s post on X, stating, “It may be possible very soon.”
Despite having introduced FSD four years ago, Tesla has not yet made it available in China, despite customer requests. This delay has allowed other Chinese automakers to develop and deploy similar software, seeking to gain a competitive edge over Tesla.

One such competitor, Xpeng, announced in March its plans to upgrade its advanced driver assistance software, with the goal of making all functions available to drivers across China by 2024. Xpeng’s XNGP Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) bears similarities to Tesla’s FSD technology.
Musk’s recent statement has sparked anticipation among Tesla enthusiasts in China, eager to experience the advanced autonomous driving features firsthand. Tesla’s move to launch FSD in China could potentially reshape the landscape of autonomous driving technology in the region.
