French company Edenred has acquired a majority stake in the Danish charging platform Spirii, in a move aimed at expanding its presence in the electric mobility sector. Spirii, founded in 2019, sees this acquisition as a catalyst for accelerating its growth in Europe and entering markets in Latin America and the USA.
Edenred, known for its digital platform for services and payments, has expanded its offerings beyond its voucher business roots to provide transaction solutions for companies, employees, and retailers. With the acquisition of Spirii, Edenred is making its foray into the charging business, aiming to integrate Spirii’s platform technology and solutions into its portfolio.
The partnership between Edenred and Spirii is seen as a strategic alignment of shared visions for the future of electric mobility. Spirii’s market-leading platform technology and global customer portfolio, combined with Edenred’s established worldwide market presence, are expected to create synergies and drive innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) charging sector.
According to Spirii, the acquisition by Edenred marks an exciting new phase of global expansion. “Edenred’s acquisition of Spirii unites two pioneering entities with a shared vision for the future of electric mobility,” said a Spirii spokesperson. “It brings Spirii’s market-leading platform technology, global customer portfolio, and EV charging turn-key solutions together with Edenred’s established worldwide market presence.”
Edenred plans to integrate Spirii’s technologies and solutions to offer added value to its fleet customers transitioning to electromobility. The company aims to become the leading provider of electric fleet and payment solutions in Europe and Latin America.
Tore HarritshĂžj, CEO of Spirii, expressed enthusiasm about joining the Edenred family. “We’re incredibly proud and happy to become a part of the Edenred family,” said HarritshĂžj. “This acquisition is proof of our hard efforts and successes and a huge milestone in our continued quest to revolutionize the EV charging industry.”
The two founding partners of Spirii, Tore HarritshĂžj and Torben Fog, will remain shareholders in Spirii and continue to lead the company as CEO and CIO. Diane Coliche, Chief Operating Officer for Mobility at Edenred, highlighted the strategic importance of the acquisition. “With this acquisition, Edenred reinforces its commitment to spearheading innovative eMobility solutions and to helping its clients in their electrification transition,” said Coliche.
