Dutch electric bus manufacturer Ebusco has secured a new order from Métropole Rouen Normandie for 15 Ebusco 3.0 electric buses, each 18 meters in length. These buses are scheduled to be deployed in and around Rouen starting in 2025.

The order, facilitated by the public purchasing union UGAP (Union des Groupements d’Achats Publics), will increase the total number of Ebusco electric buses in Rouen to over 100, according to Ebusco. The new articulated electric buses will feature four double doors and a battery pack with a capacity of more than 500 kWh, allowing them to navigate steep roads and accommodate a high number of passengers on their designated routes in Rouen.

The Ebusco 3.0 electric buses will be utilized on Rouen’s TEOR express bus routes, serving as an integral part of the city’s public transport system. These buses are designed to complete their daily service without the need for intermediate charging, with charging taking place exclusively at night in the depot.

The newly ordered vehicles will join the existing fleet of four Ebusco 2.2 electric buses and the 85 Ebusco 3.0 electric buses already planned for deployment in Rouen. With this new order, the total number of Ebusco electric buses operating in and around Rouen will exceed 100, comprising both 12 and 18-meter models.

Jean-Francois Chiron, Managing Director of Ebusco France Sales, expressed enthusiasm about the continued partnership with Métropole Rouen Normandie, stating, “We are really delighted to continue our partnership with Metropole Rouen Normandie in their strategy of decarbonisation of their urban transport and it is great to see that the second order is placed through the UGAP purchasing group. With our production facility in Cléon, we can provide innovative, zero-emission buses with local content.”

The 15 newly ordered buses will be manufactured at Ebusco’s production facility in Cléon, France. Ebusco had previously announced its intention to produce electric buses in France starting in 2023, with the company renting space at the Renault plant in Cléon for this purpose.
