Easee, an EV charging technology company, has partnered with Fuse Energy to launch a new home electric vehicle charging tariff in the UK, offering electricity at 5 pence per kilowatt-hour during certain hours. The partnership also includes a hardware offer, allowing customers to purchase the Easee One home charger with professional installation for £899.
Fuse Energy’s tariff advertises “100 miles for just £1.25,” though actual costs will vary depending on the vehicle’s efficiency. The rate is lower than comparable tariffs such as Octopus Energy GO, which charges around 7p per kWh during fixed overnight off-peak hours. However, unlike Octopus GO’s defined off-peak periods, Fuse Energy’s tariff appears to rely on dynamic pricing based on grid load, without confirmed fixed hours. This may affect the overall cost depending on usage patterns.
Anthony Fernandez, CEO of Easee UK, said: “We’re proud to support Fuse Energy’s new tariff with our award-winning charger – built to last, easy to install and simple to use. With over 870,000 Easee chargers already installed across Europe in residential and fleet applications, this partnership extends our commitment to making EV charging smart, seamless and scalable. Together, we’re empowering more drivers to access lower-cost charging whilst contributing to grid stability.”
The Easee One charger is designed to optimise charging by adjusting to periods when electricity is cheaper and cleaner, aligning with dynamic time-of-use tariffs. This feature aims to provide users with a more efficient charging experience and support grid management.
While Fuse Energy’s tariff offers a lower headline rate, consumers may need to evaluate how the dynamic pricing compares with other tariffs that guarantee fixed off-peak rates.
