E.ON Drive Infrastructure and Clever are ending their eight-year joint venture, Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever, with the network’s 37 motorway charging sites across Denmark, Sweden and Norway to be redistributed between the two partners and Uno-X Mobility.

The charging network currently comprises 157 high-power charging points. Under the new arrangement, Clever will take ownership of the Danish sites, E.ON Drive Infrastructure will assume the Swedish locations, and Uno-X Mobility will take over the Norwegian operations.

Charging Sites Divided by Country

Clever will acquire all six Danish motorway sites operated by the joint venture. Together, these locations contain 48 high-power charging points.

The company plans to integrate the sites into its own public charging network before the end of 2026.

In a separate transaction, Clever will also acquire a charging hub from E.ON Drive Infrastructure on Denmark’s E45 motorway at exit 56, Horsens West. The hub has 14 charging points.

E.ON Drive Infrastructure will become the sole owner of the 19 motorway sites in Sweden, which together contain 80 high-power charging points.

In Norway, Uno-X Mobility Norge AS will take ownership and responsibility for operating the joint venture’s 12 sites.

VinFast and E.ON Drive Partner to Roll Out EV Charging Infrastructure in Europe

Joint Venture Ends After Eight Years

Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever was established in 2018 as a 50:50 partnership between E.ON Drive Infrastructure and Clever.

The joint venture was created to support long-distance electric vehicle travel across Scandinavia by developing a network of high-power charging sites along major motorways.

Mathias Langkilde Sukstof, responsible for network strategy at Clever, said the objective of making electric car travel easier remains unchanged despite the restructuring.

The charging stations will now become part of the respective companies’ individual public networks rather than operating under the joint venture.

Scandinavian Charging Market Consolidates

The dissolution comes as the Scandinavian public charging market undergoes further consolidation.

Vattenfall InCharge recently announced the acquisition of Nima Energy’s high-power charging business in Sweden. In Norway, Eviny Fast Charging and Statkraft subsidiary Mer have also announced a merger.

The redistribution of Powered by E.ON Drive & Clever adds another transaction to the changing competitive landscape for EV charging infrastructure in Scandinavia.

The existing charging locations will continue operating under new ownership, with the network assets divided according to country.
