EV startup Draco Motors has released a teaser for the Dragon SUV ahead of its official launch on November 17. Drako first arrived on the automotive scene a few years ago with the Fisker Karma-based GTE model. Meanwhile the Dragon model will take the form of a crossover coupe and ahead of its launch, the automaker has made some bold claims about it.
This new teaser doesn’t reveal much that isn’t yet known about the vehicle. Among the main eye-catching components include the sharp headlamps with LED daytime running lights, the bold front bumper and grille, and the fact that the Dragon has gullwing doors. Luckily, an undisguised Dragon prototype car was caught in the middle of shooting a promotional video in Italy last month, allowing us to get a full look at it.
The most interesting aspect of the Dragon is the fact that despite appearing to be a four or five seater, this SUV only has two gullwing doors. It seems that Draco may have taken some design inspiration from the Koenigsegg Gemera in designing a luxurious four-seater with two giant doors. While it might not be very comfortable for those sitting in the second row, it makes for a very clean and seamless design.
Beyond the design, Draco says the Dragon will feature four electric motors that combine to produce 2,000 hp with a custom built battery module. Draco claims the Dragon will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 1.9 seconds with a top speed of 200 mph (322 km/h).
It is unclear how many Dragons will be able to reach the production line and how much each of them will cost. But expect it to be quite pricey, considering the previous GTE model cost $1.25 million.
