Dongfeng Motor’s premium electric off-road brand M-Hero has begun pre-sales for its new M817 SUV, the first model developed under its strategic partnership with Huawei.

The company launched pre-orders at an event held on July 19, offering two configurations—Pro and Max—priced at RMB 329,900 ($45,950) and RMB 359,900, respectively.

The M817 is a plug-in hybrid off-road SUV with dimensions of 5,100 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and up to 1,919 mm in height. It features a 1.5-liter engine combined with electric motors, delivering a total output of 505 kW and torque of 848 Nm.

The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds and is equipped with a 31.7 kWh battery, enabling a total range of 1,300 km under full charge and fuel.

The vehicle integrates Huawei’s latest automotive technologies, including the ADS 4 advanced driving assistance system and the HarmonyOS-based cockpit. The M817 marks M-Hero’s second production model, following the launch of the M-917 in 2023, which is available in both battery electric and extended-range versions starting from RMB 637,700 and RMB 697,700, respectively.

M-Hero was officially introduced by Dongfeng in August 2022 with the debut of the M-Terrain and M-Terrain S concepts. The collaboration with Huawei, formalized in February 2024, is aimed at accelerating the adoption of intelligent automotive solutions and advancing M-Hero’s presence in China’s luxury electric off-road segment.
