DLL, the Netherlands-based financial services provider, plans to acquire a 51 per cent majority stake in GATE, a subsidiary of the Iveco Group that specialises in rental services for low- and zero-emission commercial vehicles. The Iveco Group will retain a 49 per cent shareholding in the company, the two parties announced this week.
GATE – short for Green & Advanced Transport Ecosystem – was launched in July 2023 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Iveco. The company offers long-term rental solutions for electric commercial vehicles based on a pay-per-use model, initially centred on the eDaily electric van. The partnership with DLL is pending regulatory approval and will restructure GATE as a joint venture, aiming to combine Iveco’s vehicle expertise with DLL’s experience in asset financing.
“The new ownership structure provides GATE with a stronger financial backbone and expertise in asset financing,” the Iveco Group said in a statement. “This is crucial for accelerating the growth strategy and the further development and expansion of the company.”
GATE currently operates in Italy, France, and Germany, and positions itself as a pioneer in zero-emission vehicle rental, particularly in the commercial segment. The company offers three modular service packages, including maintenance and repair, tax and registration handling, and telematics-based fleet management.
The joint venture with DLL is expected to support GATE’s expansion into new markets and help scale its operations in line with growing demand for sustainable transport solutions across Europe.
