DHL Express Expands Electric Fleet in Indonesia with 24 New Transporter Vans

DHL Express, a leading logistics company, has recently expanded its electric vehicle fleet in Indonesia with the addition of 24 electric transporter vans. These new vans will be deployed in the bustling capital city of Jakarta as well as in Bandung, a major city in West Java province. Furthermore, DHL Express aims to electrify its delivery fleet beyond this initial deployment.

While this is not the first foray into electric vehicles for DHL Express in Indonesia, as they had previously operated four electric vans and six electric bikes in Jakarta and Surabaya, the introduction of the 24 electric transporters marks a significant step towards sustainable and environmentally friendly logistics operations.

Although the press release from the company does not explicitly mention the specific model of vans chosen by DHL Express Indonesia, accompanying images suggest that they have opted for electric transporters manufactured by the Chinese company DFSK. By employing these 24 electric vehicles, DHL Express anticipates a noteworthy reduction of 177 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.

Deutsche Post DHL Group, the parent company of DHL Express, has set an ambitious target to convert 60 percent of its global last-mile delivery vehicles to electric drives by 2030. Ahmad Mohamad, the chief technical advisor of DHL Express Indonesia, expressed his perspective on the new additions, stating that they are “simply the start of our journey to protecting the Earth for future generations.” He further emphasized DHL Express’s commitment to progressively transitioning their fleet to electric vehicles in the upcoming years, while also investing in electric trucks and photovoltaic (PV) systems.

DHL Express’s expansion of its electric vehicle fleet in Indonesia demonstrates the company’s dedication to sustainability and its proactive approach to combating climate change. With these new electric vans hitting the roads, DHL Express takes a significant stride towards reducing its carbon footprint and setting an example for the logistics industry in embracing clean energy solutions.
