Daimler plans to bring an electric bus prototype to Indonesia in 2023. President Director of PT Daimler Commercial Vehicles Indonesia (DCVI) Naeem Hassim, said that his party will soon go to Brazil and see the product.

“We will bring the electric bus prototype in the first quarter or second quarter of 2023. We need to get input from stakeholders in Indonesia. We just got confirmation last week, we will go to Brazil and see the product,” said Naeem at a press conference in Jakarta. South Jakarta, Tuesday (27/9/2022).

Naeem explained that electrification is not about products, but how companies help consumers and organize all consumer needs.

DCVI is studying the needs of Indonesian consumers for electrified vehicles and is preparing to determine the right product for customers.

Currently, the focus is not only on products, but also on infrastructure readiness and support from stakeholders.

“We are ready to give you the product and this is all we can offer at this point. Let me tell you from Daimler’s perspective. Our message is very clear, we don’t want to just give our clients the product.

Daimler would never do this. It’s not our intention to leave consumers with products without providing them with the necessary consultation, because then tomorrow’s consumers will get the product but can’t charge it, don’t know what to do with the product, I don’t know where to service the vehicle,” he explained.
