Daimler Buses has introduced the Mercedes-Benz eCitaro K, a 10.63-meter all-electric bus designed for navigating narrow streets and urban routes.
The new model, launched at the IAA Transportation 2024 event, is aimed at areas with fewer passengers and confined spaces, expanding the eCitaro lineup alongside the 12.14-meter eCitaro and the 18.13-meter eCitaro G.
The eCitaro K offers flexible battery configurations, ranging from four to six packs, with a total capacity of up to 588 kWh. The maximum setup allows the bus to travel over 300 kilometers under optimal conditions.
The model also supports pantograph charging for longer routes. “Despite its compact size, the eCitaro K is a fully-fledged public service bus with all the qualities of its larger siblings,” Daimler Buses said during the launch.
The bus shares the same cockpit design as the larger eCitaro models, making it easier for drivers to switch between vehicles. It is powered by the ZF AVE 130 electric portal axle, featuring two motors with a peak output of 125 kW each.
Additionally, the eCitaro K can be fitted with the MirrorCam system, which improves visibility and reduces the bus’s profile compared to traditional mirrors.
