Dacia has confirmed that the next generation of its all-electric Spring will be built in Europe, marking a major production shift for the compact city car as the automaker continues its strategy of offering affordable battery-electric vehicles for the mass market.
The second-generation Spring will retain its fully electric powertrain, four-seat layout, and practical luggage space while continuing to target urban drivers seeking an accessible entry into electric mobility.
Production Moves to Europe
Since its launch in 2021, the Dacia Spring has sold around 210,000 units across Europe, including approximately 50,000 vehicles in Germany.
Unlike the current model, which is produced in China, the next-generation Spring will be manufactured in Europe. Dacia has not yet disclosed the production location or provided a launch timeline for the new model.
Affordable EV Strategy Continues
Dacia said the upcoming Spring will maintain the model’s core philosophy of providing a simple, practical, and affordable electric vehicle for everyday urban transportation.
The company has yet to release technical specifications for the new generation, including battery capacity, driving range, charging performance, or powertrain details.
Recent Updates to Current Model
The existing Spring received a technical upgrade in late 2025, introducing new electric motors producing 52 kW and 75 kW, replacing the previous 33 kW and 48 kW versions.
The update also made the Spring the first Renault Group vehicle to adopt a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, while a major exterior redesign had already been introduced in 2024.
Current Availability
Dacia recently suspended sales of the entry-level Essential trim, citing strong customer demand.
Earlier this year, the base version was offered for as little as €11,900 after a €5,000 manufacturer discount. The current lineup now starts with the Expression trim, priced from €18,700 before incentives, while Dacia currently offers discounts of up to €3,000 that can be combined with applicable government subsidies.
Further details on the second-generation Spring, including technical specifications, pricing, production location, and market launch timing, are expected to be announced at a later date.
