Dacia has opened UK order books for the updated Spring electric city car, pricing the model from £12,240 on the road after applying its own £3,750 subsidy, as the Romanian brand seeks to reinforce its position at the low end of the electric vehicle market.

The revised Spring features new electric motors, a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, faster DC charging and upgraded digital interiors, with first customer deliveries scheduled for spring 2026, Dacia said.

The model is offered with two permanent magnet synchronous motors producing 70 horsepower or 100 horsepower. The higher-powered version cuts the 0–62 mph acceleration time to 9.6 seconds, compared with 12.3 seconds for the lower-output variant. Both are paired with a single-speed transmission and powered by a 24.3 kWh LFP battery, marking the first use of LFP technology within the Renault Group, according to Dacia.

WLTP combined driving range is rated at up to 140 miles for both versions. Charging options include AC charging up to 7 kW and DC fast charging up to 40 kW, enabling a 20–80% recharge in 29 minutes, which the company says is sufficient for urban and commuter driving.

Dacia said it has revised the Spring’s chassis, suspension and braking systems to improve ride comfort and everyday usability. Inside, all versions now come with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster as standard, while Extreme trims add a 10.1-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with the brand’s YouClip modular accessory system.

UK pricing starts at £15,990 on the road for the Expression Electric 70 and £16,990 for the Extreme Electric 100, including delivery and first registration. While the Spring does not qualify for the UK government’s Electric Car Grant, Dacia has introduced its own subsidy to offset the difference, lowering effective prices to £12,240 and £13,240 respectively.

“With the introduction of our Dacia Electric Car Grant, it makes buying and owning a Spring even more affordable,” said Luke Broad, Dacia brand director for the UK. “We’re in the business of making electric mobility accessible for all.”

Dacia said the updated Spring retains its status as the UK’s most affordable new battery-electric car, as manufacturers compete to expand electric vehicle adoption amid ongoing concerns over pricing and charging infrastructure.
