operating from Dachser logistics centers in Barcelona and Valencia following a months-long trial in which company staff drove an ETM6 approximately 3,500 kilometers to assess performance under real-world conditions. The compact vehicle offers a payload of up to four tonnes, a 126 kWh battery and a range of about 200 kilometers, making it suited to urban distribution routes.

Founded in 1930 and headquartered in Kempten, Germany, Dachser has been expanding its electric transport capabilities for several years. The company currently operates about 160 battery-electric trucks above 3.5 tonnes across Europe and has installed more than 800 charging points powered by renewable electricity.

A central component of the firm’s sustainability approach is its “Dachser Emission-Free Delivery” program, which restricts deliveries in designated urban zones to battery-electric trucks and cargo bikes. The company has established such zones in 25 European cities, most recently in Düsseldorf.

“The electrification of transport is a key pillar of our sustainability strategy,” said Alberto Gil, Team Leader for Energy Management & Sustainability at Dachser. “The test phase allowed us to evaluate the performance of BYD’s electric vehicles under real operating conditions and confirm that they meet our high standards for reliability, efficiency, and customer service.”

BYD said the deployment marks the beginning of closer cooperation with the logistics company. “This is the first step towards a strong and lasting partnership. We understand Dachser’s electrification needs and fully support them in this transition,” said Domenico Gostoli, Head of Commercial Vehicles at BYD Europe.

Dachser has traditionally relied on European truck manufacturers, making the adoption of Chinese-built vehicles a notable shift. While BYD’s ETM6 remains relatively uncommon on European roads, similar trucks have been used by logistics providers in several countries, including earlier orders placed for distribution operations serving Ikea.
