Cupra has introduced the Born VZ, a high-performance variant of its electric hatchback featuring enhanced performance, a sportier chassis setup, and upgraded technology in the cabin.
The Born VZ is equipped with a more powerful rear-mounted electric motor, generating 322 horsepower (240 kW / 326 PS) and 545 Nm (402 lb-ft) of torque. This represents a significant increase compared to the Born e-Boost, with a boost of 94 hp (70 kW / 95 PS) and 235 Nm (173 lb-ft) of torque.
According to Cupra, the Born VZ can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph). This is a full second quicker and 40 km/h (25 mph) faster than its predecessor.

Despite the improved performance, Cupra claims that efficiency has not been compromised. The battery pack has been upgraded from 77 kWh to 79 kWh, providing a range of up to 570 km (335 miles) between charges. The battery also supports 170 kW DC charging, allowing it to reach 80 percent charge in just 30 minutes.
The Born VZ features a VZ-specific chassis setup, including new adaptive dampers, springs, and updated anti-roll bars. The steering has been improved for better response, and the braking feel has also been enhanced.
Visually, the Born VZ differs from other trims with its 20-inch wheels, which feature 3D copper inserts. It is available in the Dark Forest and Midnight Black shades, and it sports a dark chrome VZ emblem on the tailgate.

Safety features have been upgraded with more advanced ADAS, including Remote Park Assist.
The Cupra Born VZ is set to launch in the third quarter of 2024, with pricing to be announced in the summer. The debut timing suggests that the facelifted Cupra Born will likely be unveiled in 2025.
