Cupra has introduced a more affordable version of its all-electric Raval compact hatchback in Germany, opening orders for the new Raval Plus ahead of the arrival of the model’s entry-level variant.

Priced from €29,850, the Raval Plus combines a 99kW front-mounted electric motor with a 37kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. Customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in mid-September.

New variant expands Raval lineup

The Raval is the first model built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ platform for its next generation of compact electric vehicles.

When the model debuted in April, Cupra announced a starting price below €26,000 but initially made only higher-specification Launch Editions available for order. The base model, expected to start from €25,950, is currently scheduled to arrive in September, according to the company’s configurator.

The new Raval Plus sits above the forthcoming base model while offering a lower-priced alternative to the existing Launch Editions.

Battery and performance options

Cupra plans to offer the Raval with four power outputs of 85kW, 99kW, 155kW and 166kW.

The 85kW and 99kW variants use a 37kWh LFP battery, while the 155kW and 166kW models are equipped with a larger 52kWh nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery.

According to Cupra, the Raval Plus delivers a WLTP driving range of up to 300 kilometres, while versions fitted with the larger battery can achieve up to 444 kilometres.

The vehicle supports 11kW AC charging and 88kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in around 23 minutes under suitable charging conditions.

Equipment and features

Measuring 4.05 metres in length with a 2.60-metre wheelbase, the Raval features Cupra’s Sharknose front-end styling, Matrix LED headlights and front-wheel drive.

Standard equipment includes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, sports seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and rear lights, single-zone climate control, heated and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, a seven-speaker audio system, voice control, DAB+ digital radio, a range of driver assistance systems and a 441-litre luggage compartment.

Customers can also choose optional Edge, Drive and Light & Sound packages, which add features such as Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, the Travel Assist 3.0 driver assistance system, a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system and enhanced ambient lighting. Other options include a tow hitch and a panoramic roof.

The Raval Plus joins three Launch Edition models already available in Germany, with prices ranging from €37,250 for the Dynamic variant to €46,525 for the range-topping VZ Extreme.
