Connected Curb announced it has received an investment of £110 million from insurance company Aviva which will be used to install 190,000 publicly accessible AC chargers across the UK by 2030.
Connected Curb, the UK charging infrastructure company will not only provide public charging but also provide electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the insurance company’s pan-European property portfolio.
By the end of 2022, the London-based company aims to have installed 4,000 chargers.
“This investment combines the proven long-term reliability of Connected Kerb’s infrastructure with the financial resources and expertise of Aviva Investors to deploy charging, at scale, to all corners of the UK, giving individuals and businesses the confidence to make the switch to electric. ” said Chris Pateman-Jones, CEO of Connected Kerb
Aviva’s investment of up to 110 million pounds should give the London-based company the financial leeway needed to realize its target of installing public charging.
Connected Curb said an investment of up to £110m is equivalent to about a quarter of all funding provided by the UK government under the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) fund.
Connected Curb has been known for its specialty in charging AC overnight on the road with 7-22KW. The company targets those who do not have parking facilities on their own properties and therefore have to rely on public charging offerings.
Connected Curb also plans to expand into the US, having recently been selected for a pilot project in New York City. Here, the British company will ship charging points on the road across New York City in what it calls an “innovative flagship project”. Provided to the New York City Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) and Newlab, pilots could produce 10,000 roadside chargers across NYC by 2030.
