Colorado and ChargePoint have completed the EV Fast-Charging Corridors program, significantly expanding access to fast-charging infrastructure along key highways in the state. The initiative has added more than 80 charging ports across 33 sites, providing electric vehicle (EV) drivers with greater convenience and access to fast-charging locations.
The program was made possible through $10 million in state funding, along with over $2 million in contributions from private and local government partners. As a result, Colorado’s DC fast-charging coverage has more than doubled, with nearly 80% of highway corridors now within 30 miles of a fast charger, compared to just 40% in 2019.
The newly installed ChargePoint stations are located in a range of locations, including convenience stores and visitor centers, offering EV drivers an opportunity to recharge while also accessing amenities. These charging sites are available through the ChargePoint app or website for easy navigation.
Rick Wilmer, CEO of ChargePoint, commented on the significance of the initiative, saying, “This project is a testament to the leadership we’re seeing across the country at a state level to accelerate the build-out of a robust charging network for all EV drivers.”
All 33 charging sites are now operational and can be found on the Colorado Energy Office’s website.
