The electric buggy is shining again along with the electrification trend in the automotive world. The latest, is the electric Buggy produced by the Dutch company, Savage Rivale, called the Coastrunner EV.
This Buggy EV is quite different from their previous work, it looks like a doorless SUV with an open cabin and 215 mm (8.5 inches) of ground clearance.
The Coastrunner is constructed with an aluminum spaceframe chassis, and features a steel roll cage around the cab and steel bars at both ends. Its lightweight structure and composite body make this buggy a weight of 800 kg (1,764 pounds). The design is quite modern with sculpted fenders, thick side sills, LED lights, a foldable canvas roof, and a sturdy bumper with skid plates.
The open, watertight cabin features four seats, an audio system, a three-spoke steering wheel with buttons sourced from the VW Group, an infotainment touchscreen, and an analog instrument cluster. Wood accents on the dashboard, floor and rear shelf accentuate the cruise ship-like atmosphere, while the frunk can accommodate a 60 liter fridge for your snacks and drinks.
Power comes from a single rear-mounted electric motor that produces 67 hp (50 kW / 68 PS) and 200 Nm (147.5 lb-ft) of torque enabling a top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph).
The installed 20 kWh battery provides a range of approximately 200 km (124 miles). According to the company, a full charge takes only 30 minutes although the type of charger is not specified.
Savage Rivale didn’t announce pricing for the Coastrunner EV, but did say that production is already underway with 13 build slots remaining for 2023.
