Swedish electric vehicle manufacturer Clean Motion has introduced an extended version of its EVIG Memorial electric vehicle, specifically designed for funeral transport applications.
The new EVIG Memorial Extended expands the company’s zero-emission mobility offering for funeral service providers by providing sufficient space to transport coffins while retaining the quiet electric drivetrain and compact design of the original model.
The vehicle was developed in collaboration with Bestattung Wien, one of Europe’s largest funeral service organizations, and was showcased at the BEFA FORUM trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Designed for Funeral Transportation
The EVIG Memorial Extended is based on Clean Motion’s existing electric vehicle platform but features a significantly longer body to accommodate funeral coffins.
According to the company, the vehicle measures 3.95 meters in length, approximately 0.7 meters longer than the standard EVIG Memorial model.
The extended dimensions allow funeral operators to transport coffins while maintaining the vehicle’s compact footprint and fully electric powertrain.
Clean Motion said the new variant was developed in response to growing demand from funeral service providers seeking environmentally sustainable alternatives to conventional transport vehicles.
Quiet Electric Drivetrain for Funeral Services
The company highlighted the advantages of electric mobility in funeral operations, noting that the vehicle’s near-silent drivetrain can contribute to a more respectful and serene atmosphere during funeral processions.
As cities across Europe continue to pursue lower-emission transportation solutions, Clean Motion believes electric funeral vehicles can help service providers reduce their environmental impact while preserving traditional ceremonial standards.
Partnership with Bestattung Wien
Development of the EVIG Memorial Extended was supported by Bestattung Wien, a major European funeral services provider.
The collaboration enabled Clean Motion to tailor the vehicle to the operational requirements of the funeral industry while ensuring that practical transport needs were met.
The two organizations jointly presented the vehicle at BEFA FORUM, one of the leading trade fairs serving the funeral and memorial services sector.
Available for Pre-Orders
Clean Motion confirmed that the EVIG Memorial Extended is available for immediate pre-order and can be customized according to the specific needs of funeral service providers.
The company said customization options will allow operators to adapt the vehicle for different ceremonial and logistical requirements.
“The introduction of the extended-length EVIG Memorial represents a meaningful step forward to provide sustainable and respectful transportation solutions for funeral services,” said Stefan Janols, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Clean Motion AB.
“We understand the importance of honouring traditions while reducing environmental impact, and this vehicle perfectly balances these priorities.”
With the launch of the EVIG Memorial Extended, Clean Motion is targeting a niche but growing segment of the mobility market where sustainability goals are increasingly influencing fleet purchasing decisions. The company sees the vehicle as part of a broader transition toward zero-emission transport solutions across specialized commercial applications.
