Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Niu is gearing up to launch its RQi electric motorcycle in Europe, targeting enthusiasts in the region. Although the RQi is not a novel concept, having been unveiled at CES 2020, delays hindered its release. Now, Niu is set to introduce the RQi, albeit with revised specifications to cater to the European market.
Initially showcased with an impressive 40-horsepower output and a top speed of 100 miles per hour, the RQi faced delays that prompted a more beginner-friendly revision in 2022. The updated model features a 7,500-watt electric motor, equivalent to approximately 11 horsepower, designed to align with A1 license regulations for novice riders in Europe.

Niu claims the RQi boasts substantial torque, reaching 450 Nm (330 pound-feet). The electric motorcycle has a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour (about 68 miles per hour) and accelerates from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour (31 miles per hour) in 2.9 seconds.
The battery configuration consists of two 72-volt, 36-ampere-hour units, providing a combined range of approximately 200 kilometers (125 miles) per charge. Premium components, including Pirelli tires, a Brembo radial caliper, dual-channel ABS, and traction control, enhance the RQi’s performance. The motorcycle also features full-LED lighting, keyless start, front and rear-mounted cameras for added safety, and GPS tracking.
