China’s Sany brand has made a significant move in the heavy truck sector with the debut of its all-electric, four-axle “E-mixer” cement mixer, now entering the global market.
Earlier this month, Singapore’s Pan-United Corp. introduced the nation’s first electric-powered concrete mixer truck, marking a key milestone in its goal to become a carbon-neutral ready-mix concrete company by 2050. The E-mixer’s launch also aligns with Sany’s ambition to expand its presence in the global heavy truck industry.
Pan-United’s official filing indicates that using the battery-powered mixer truck will cut the carbon footprint of transporting ready-mix concrete by 45% compared to traditional internal combustion engine trucks. “Pan-United hopes to eventually operate a substantial fleet of electric concrete mixer trucks for our day-to-day operations,” said Pan-United CEO Ken Loh. “We will continue to actively explore new and innovative solutions and products to decarbonize and accelerate the global climate transition.”
The Sany E-mixer is offered in 6×4 and 8×4 axle configurations and features a 350 kWh battery pack. It is capable of carrying a full load of 10 cubic meters of cement (over 24,000 kg or 50,000 lbs.) for more than 150 km (95 miles) on a single charge. The company claims that the truck can be fully recharged in under 2 hours.
Equipped with a 6-speed transmission, the E-mixer delivers significant torque, enabling it to handle a 30% grade even when fully loaded. This development represents Sany’s effort to leverage its electric vehicle technology and expand its market reach in the heavy truck segment.
