Chevrolet, the American automaker, has announced yet another impressive quarter in the United States, with a remarkable increase in vehicle deliveries. In Q2, the brand reported a total of 454,046 vehicle deliveries, marking a substantial 17% year-over-year growth. This positive trend extended throughout the first half of the year, with Chevrolet delivering a total of 852,187 vehicles, reflecting a notable 16.5% increase compared to H1 2022.
The most noteworthy growth was observed in the all-electric car segment, where Chevrolet experienced a doubling of sales in Q2. The company reported an impressive 101% year-over-year increase, with 13,959 deliveries of the popular Chevrolet Bolt EV/Bolt EUV. Although this represents a solid achievement, it fell slightly short of Q1’s figures, which reached 19,700.
It is important to note that Chevrolet faced significant production and sales challenges last year due to a substantial battery-related recall. However, production resumed in April 2022, allowing the brand to recover and excel in subsequent quarters.
When considering the overall sales volume, the Bolt EV/Bolt EUV models accounted for approximately 3.1% of Chevrolet’s total sales, showcasing their substantial market presence. A major contributing factor to the success of these models is the attractive pricing, primarily attributed to the $7,500 federal tax credit for electric vehicles.
Regrettably, both versions of the Bolt, the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, will soon be discontinued before the conclusion of 2023. Customers interested in purchasing these models will have a final opportunity to place their orders in August.
Chevrolet’s Q2 2023 BEV sales showcased significant growth, with the Bolt EV/Bolt EUV models leading the charge. A total of 13,959 units were delivered, representing a notable 101% year-over-year increase and accounting for 3.1% of the market share.
Since the beginning of the year, Chevrolet has already sold over 33,000 Bolt EV/Bolt EUV units, making up nearly 4% of the total sales volume. This performance represents a remarkable 361% surge in sales compared to the same period last year.
Looking ahead, Chevrolet has set an ambitious production target of 70,000 units for 2023, aiming to meet global demand. Considering the strong sales performance of 33,659 units in the US alone, this target appears achievable.
Although the majority of Chevrolet Bolt EV/Bolt EUV sales are concentrated in the US market, these popular electric vehicles are also available in other countries, including Canada and South Korea.
Chevrolet’s current focus lies on introducing all-new models based on the advanced Ultium platform. Notable upcoming releases include the Chevrolet Silverado EV pickup, with deliveries scheduled to commence in late Spring, as well as the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Chevrolet Equinox EV. These cutting-edge electric models demonstrate Chevrolet’s commitment to advancing the electrification of their vehicle lineup.
