Chevrolet has officially initiated deliveries of the all-electric Equinox SUV, marking a significant milestone for customers eagerly anticipating the arrival of the highly anticipated vehicle.
General Motors (GM) announced that the Equinox EV, touted as the “most affordable EV” in its class with a range exceeding 300 miles, is now being delivered to customers, signaling the beginning of a new era for electric vehicles in the automotive market.
Production of the Equinox EV commenced earlier this year, and the new electric SUV is already making its way to customers. Last fall, Chevrolet unveiled that the entry-level Equinox 1LT FWD would start at $34,995. However, the current model being delivered to customers, the 2LT version, has an MSRP of $43,295.
The Equinox EV 2RS and 2RS Launch Edition are currently available at dealerships, with the 2LT, 3LT, and 3RS models expected to arrive by the end of the month, according to GM Authority.
GM has confirmed that the lower-priced $35,000 version will be open for ordering later this year. Scott Bell, vice president of Chevrolet, described the Equinox EV as an “affordable game-changer,” highlighting its potential to revolutionize the electric vehicle market.
The electric Equinox retains the qualities that have made the nameplate a standout, ranking second only to the Silverado in Chevy sales, while incorporating enhanced technology and features.
Interior features of the Equinox EV include a 17.7-inch infotainment system, a wide array of standard and available driver-assist features, and the option for Super Cruise.
The advanced infotainment system features Google integration, offering Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to the Play Store. With a spacious storage capacity of up to 1,614 liters (57.2 cubic feet), the electric SUV provides ample room for all types of trips and adventures.
Equipped with a standard Ultium-based system for FWD models, the Equinox delivers 213 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque, while the e-AWD version boasts 288 horsepower and 333 lb-ft of torque.
The FWD model offers an EPA-estimated range of up to 319 miles, while the AWD model can travel up to 285 miles on a single charge.
Featuring up to 150 kW DC fast charging capabilities, the Equinox can add 77 miles of range in just 10 minutes, according to GM.
GM has confirmed that the Equinox qualifies for the full $7,500 EV tax credit, potentially reducing prices to as low as $27,495. Currently, the most affordable 2LT FWD model can be purchased for as low as $35,795 after applying the tax credit.
