Chery Group exported 202,533 vehicles in July, becoming the first Chinese automaker to ship more than 200,000 vehicles overseas in a single month.
The July export total increased 70.1% from a year earlier and marked the fifth consecutive monthly export record for a Chinese automaker.
Overseas Sales Reach New High
Chery said a vehicle was exported approximately every 16 seconds during the month.
Total group sales reached a record 276,820 vehicles in July, up 23.3% year on year.
New energy vehicle (NEV) sales totaled 129,067 units, rising 97.5% from a year earlier and remaining above the 100,000-unit mark for the fourth consecutive month.
Exports accounted for approximately 73% of total July sales, compared with 53% in the same month last year.
Based on those figures, domestic sales totaled about 74,000 vehicles in July, representing an estimated decline of around 30% from a year earlier.
Seven-Month Sales Continue to Grow
During the first seven months of 2026, Chery Group sold 1,634,353 vehicles, an increase of 10.1% from the same period last year.
Exports reached 1,146,350 vehicles, up 71.2% year on year, while cumulative NEV sales rose 42.3% to 604,305 units.
Hong Kong-listed Chery Auto delivered 261,876 vehicles in July, up 24.1% from a year earlier.
Its cumulative sales for the first seven months reached 1,536,952 vehicles, an increase of 10.3%.
Europe and Localization Drive Expansion
Europe remained one of Chery’s fastest-growing overseas markets.
Between January and June, the company sold 174,000 vehicles across 24 European countries, an increase of 212% from a year earlier.
NEV sales in Europe reached 86,000 units during the period, up 385%.
The company is also expanding localized manufacturing.
On July 3, Chery began operations at the Rosslyn vehicle plant in South Africa, which it acquired from Nissan.
The company retained all 692 employees at the facility and expects the operation to support nearly 3,000 jobs across the local supply chain.
Global Customer Base Expands
By the end of July, Chery said it had more than 20.16 million customers worldwide, including over 6.99 million overseas.
The company also surpassed 20 million cumulative global vehicle sales during the month.
Beyond automotive manufacturing, Chery is expanding its robotics business.
Its Aimoga Robotics unit announced on July 30 that cumulative overseas deliveries had exceeded 2,000 units, with products now operating in more than 60 countries and regions.
