Chargemap, an electric vehicle (EV) charging service, has expanded its compatibility with Tesla’s Supercharger network to most European countries, following a successful initial rollout in France. This extension allows Chargemap users to access Tesla’s Superchargers using their Chargemap Pass, enhancing convenience for EV drivers across the continent.
Tesla’s integration into the Gireve roaming platform last spring enabled electric mobility service providers connected to the platform to access the Supercharger network. Chargemap was the first to utilize this connection, launching a test phase in France. With the recent expansion, Chargemap users can now use their Chargemap Pass at Supercharger locations in a majority of European countries, including Germany.
Despite this broader access, the process remains consistent with the initial rollout. Third-party users can only utilize Superchargers via the Tesla app. Therefore, Chargemap customers must download the Tesla app, create a Tesla account, and designate the Chargemap Pass as their primary payment method within the app. This integration allows users to view their charging history and invoices through a unified interface within their Chargemap account, simplifying the management of their charging expenses.
To locate compatible Tesla Supercharger stations, users can activate the ‘Compatible with Chargemap Pass’ filter in the Chargemap app. By selecting ‘Selected networks only’ and choosing Superchargers, the app will display all compatible locations.
Chargemap highlighted that over 13,000 Supercharger stations across more than 1,000 locations in Europe are now accessible to third-party brands. A few Supercharger stations in Europe remain exclusive to Tesla vehicles.
