Chinese automaker Changan has unveiled the Deepal S05 electric SUV in Europe, pricing the model from €38,990 as part of its plan to expand its Deepal lineup in the region. The announcement came during the IAA Mobility show in Munich.
The S05 follows the larger Deepal S07, introduced in Europe in March, and marks a quicker product rollout as Changan targets eight electric vehicle launches in the region by 2027.

The SUV, which first went on sale in China last October, features a 200 kW rear-wheel-drive system in its European base and mid-range models, offering a WLTP range of 485 km.
A dual-motor all-wheel-drive version delivers 320 kW combined and accelerates from 0-100 kph in 5.5 seconds, with a range of 445 km.
In China, the S05 starts at 119,900 yuan ($15,500), significantly lower than its European entry price. At launch in Germany, the lineup includes the €38,990 RWD Pro, the €41,990 RWD Max, and the €44,990 AWD Max.

All models share a top speed of 180 kph and feature a 68.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery supporting AC charging at up to 11 kW and DC charging from 10% to 80% in about 23 minutes.
Changan is also exploring manufacturing options in Europe to support its expansion. “We’re committed to being in Europe, making in Europe for Europe. We’re working on local manufacturing solutions here,” Nic Thomas, Changan’s head of marketing, sales and service in Europe.
The company said its initial focus will be on markets including Norway, Denmark, Germany, the UK and the Netherlands, with three brands – Changan, Deepal and Avatr – entering the region.
