CATL Signs 450 MWh Supply Agreement with HGP for Texas Battery Storage Project

CATL has signed a 450 MWh supply agreement with US battery storage project developer HGP. Under the deal, CATL will provide HGP with the EnerC, an outdoor premade pod system that offers high safety, long life, and high integration for a variety of weather extremes. The battery storage project will be deployed in Texas and is expected to begin commercial operations in 2024.

The partnership between CATL and HGP will leverage the strengths of both companies in battery technology and energy infrastructure and storage resource development to provide a more convenient solution for the market. This will help meet the growing demand for clean energy in Texas and North America and highlights the two companies’ commitment to achieving sustainable development.

In addition to this supply agreement, CATL and HGP will also establish a long-term partnership to drive the implementation of utility-scale and distributed energy storage projects up to 5 GWh in size.

This is not the first time that CATL has signed a supply agreement with a US company for the provision of energy storage systems. In September 2022, CATL announced a partnership agreement with FlexGen to supply the latter with 10 GWh of energy storage products over a three-year period. In October 2022, CATL also signed an agreement with Primergy Solar LLC to exclusively supply batteries for the latter’s Gemini PV and energy storage project in Nevada.

CATL’s latest supply agreement with HGP demonstrates the battery giant’s commitment to expanding its presence in the US market and its ongoing efforts to support the transition to clean energy. With its expertise in battery technology and partnerships with established players in the energy sector, CATL is well-positioned to play a leading role in the development of the US energy storage market in the years ahead.
