CaoCao Mobility and autonomous driving technology company May Mobility have formed a strategic partnership to commercialize robotaxi services in international markets, with Europe identified as the first region for deployment.
The companies said the collaboration supports CaoCao’s goal of operating 100,000 robotaxis globally by 2030 through its recently announced RoboX autonomous mobility strategy.
Companies Divide Operational Responsibilities
Under the agreement, CaoCao will own and operate the robotaxi fleet, drawing on its experience in ride-hailing, fleet management and commercial mobility services.
May Mobility will provide its Autonomy-as-a-Service platform, supplying the autonomous driving technology that powers the vehicles.
The companies plan to begin with feasibility studies and pilot programs in selected European markets before expanding to larger commercial operations.
Europe Chosen for Initial Deployment
According to the companies, Europe was selected as the first international market because of its diverse road environments and potential for commercial robotaxi services.
The partnership is intended to move from pilot validation toward scalable autonomous ride-hailing operations while exploring long-term commercialization opportunities.
The companies also said they will collaborate on market expansion strategies, operating models and deployment methods for future international growth.
Supporting CaoCao’s RoboX Strategy
The agreement follows CaoCao’s introduction of its RoboX strategy, which aims to transform the company from a ride-hailing platform into a physical AI mobility technology business.
CaoCao said expanding internationally is a key part of its autonomous driving roadmap and that combining its operational capabilities with May Mobility’s technology is expected to accelerate robotaxi deployment outside China.
May Mobility Brings Commercial Experience
May Mobility currently operates autonomous mobility services in the United States and Japan and has completed more than 500,000 commercial autonomous rides.
The company also maintains partnerships with Toyota Motor Corporation, NTT, Lyft, Uber and Grab to provide autonomous mobility services across multiple markets.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder Dr. Edwin Olson said the partnership combines operational scale with autonomous driving technology.
“Expanding autonomous ride-hail across new countries takes technology that scales as fast as the operation does, and that is exactly what May Mobility delivers.”
He added:
“CaoCao has set an ambitious goal of deploying 100,000 robotaxis by 2030, and we are excited to work together to help realize this vision.”
May Mobility said its autonomous driving platform combines deep learning, dynamic world models and real-time reasoning capabilities designed to navigate unfamiliar and complex driving environments, supporting deployment across new international markets.
