The Canadian government is investigating Tesla’s electric car heating system after complaints from consumers. Previously, complaints about the heating system were also raised by some consumers in the US and China.

Canada’s auto safety regulator on Thursday launched an investigation into the heating systems of Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y electric cars. Previously, there were 16 complaints from consumers about the performance of Tesla’s heating systems during cold weather.

Regulators are concerned that a malfunctioning heating and air conditioning system could obstruct the driver’s vision, which could potentially lead to an accident.

In 2020, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said that the Tesla Model Y heating system was the best. However, recently, a number of Tesla car owners in Canada have complained that the heating pump fails to work properly when the air is very cold.

The heating problem persists even though Tesla has replaced the pump sensor in some 2020-2021 Tesla Model 3 and Model Y electric cars in early 2021.

Meanwhile, the US traffic safety regulator has not announced an investigation for a similar issue.
