Cadillac global vice president, Rory Harvey, recently provided updates on the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover during a media briefing. The introductory Debut Edition, which was the only trim level offered at launch, sold out within 10 minutes of reservations opening. Harvey announced that all orders for the Debut Edition would be fulfilled by the end of the first quarter of 2023, but the automaker has not revealed how many units were ordered.

GM delayed shipping the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq to address early quality issues. A quality hold was put in place after a recall for display screen issues and a liftgate trim panel assembly that cracked in the cold. A new customer satisfaction program was also released for a software issue causing dropped audio and lighting problems. After these issues were addressed, GM began ramping up shipments, with 1,000 units shipped in the past 30 days.

The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition is equipped with an Ultium 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a single Ultium Drive electric motor developing 340 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque powers the rear axle. The model has a range-per-charge of 312 miles and can add 76 miles of range per 10 minutes of recharging. The model rides on the EV-dedicated GM BEV3 platform.

Production for the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will end on March 17th, 2023, and regular production for the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq will start on March 20th, 2023. Cadillac plans to shift at least some 2023 Lyriq orders to the 2024 Lyriq instead, offering an incentive to do so. The second model year introduces a number of updates, including the launch of a new base trim level named the Tech trim.
