Yangwang, the ultra-luxury sub-brand of BYD, opened pre-sales on Thursday for its latest model, the U8L SUV, as it expands its footprint in China’s high-end automotive segment.
The pre-sale features a single configuration—the Dingshi Edition—priced at RMB 1.3 million ($180,700). Chinese customers can reserve the model with a deposit of RMB 20,000 and receive a RMB 30,000 optional feature fund as part of the pre-sale offer.

The U8L is a longer and more luxurious version of the Yangwang U8 off-road SUV, boasting dimensions of 5,400 mm in length, 2,049 mm in width, and 1,921 mm in height, with a 3,250 mm wheelbase. In comparison, the standard U8 measures 5,319 mm in length with a 3,050 mm wheelbase.
Reinforcing its premium positioning, the U8L features a gold logo crafted from 24K pure gold. Built on BYD’s proprietary e4 platform, the six-seat SUV is equipped with four electric motors delivering over 1,000 horsepower and includes the DiSus-P body control system, BYD’s most advanced version of its DiSus vehicle control technology.

The U8L is Yangwang’s fourth model following the U8 SUV, U9 electric supercar, and U7 luxury sedan. The U8 was launched in September 2023 with a starting price of RMB 1.098 million, followed by the U9 in February 2024 at RMB 1.68 million, and the U7 sedan in March at RMB 628,000. The U8L made its public debut at the Shanghai auto show in April, though an official market launch date has yet to be announced.
