BYD has unveiled its latest electric supercar, the YangWang U9, equipped with a new smart hydraulic suspension system called Yunnian or DiSus in English. The new system is an amalgamation of three intelligent subsystems – DiSus-A, DiSus-C, and DiSus-P – that work together to provide an unparalleled driving experience.
The YangWang U9’s DiSus system has the capability to rise up to 150mm and adjust the firmness in milliseconds by processing thousands of signals per second. However, it is the hydraulic part of the system that takes the cake. It is the world’s first intelligent hydraulic suspension system, which means it can lift and lower each corner independently and instantly increase suspension stiffness by 200 percent to keep the car flat regardless of the maneuvers it performs.
The system’s safety implications are also impressive. The DiSus system can sense an accident and activate emergency mode, which can reduce the impact load by up to 50% in case of the vehicle falling from a height. With this technology, it is even possible to drive a car with a missing wheel, a feat previously impossible.
The YangWang U9, equipped with its special edition DiSus-X, showcased the system’s performance and capabilities. The first vehicles to feature the DiSus system will use each subsystem separately. The YangWang U8, BYD’s new electric SUV, will use the DiSus-P, while the new Denza N7 will come with DiSus-A.
