Chinese automaker BYD’s Fang Cheng Bao (FCB) brand is making swift strides in the Chinese automotive market, with the recent preview of their third model, named the Bao 3. Positioned between BYD’s Denza and YangWang brands, FCB’s strategy is to kick off with the Bao 5 and subsequently introduce a flagship SUV, the Bao 8.
Screenshots shared by Chinese media outlets offer a glimpse of the Bao 3, showcasing a small SUV with a distinctive and robust exterior design that’s certain to turn heads on the road. The front fascia is dominated by twin LED light bars, flanked by main headlamps and a simple black grille proudly displaying the FCB badge.
In keeping with the off-road theme, the Bao 3 features a striking front bumper with rugged styling and a short front overhang. The side profile shots, as revealed by Car News China, highlight the SUV’s substantial ground clearance and squared-off wheel arches. Other design elements include flush door handles and a set of roof rails.
Moving to the rear, the Bao 3 sports LED taillights, a black bumper, a roof-mounted third brake light, and a spare wheel/tire carrier. The minimal rear overhang further reinforces the SUV’s off-road capabilities.
While specific dimensions remain undisclosed, it’s expected that the Bao 3 will be slightly larger than the BYD Atto 3. Powering this off-roader will be an LFP battery sourced from BYD subsidiary FinDreams, driving a pair of electric motors. Preliminary reports indicate pricing in the range of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan (approximately $27,300 to $41,000). As FCB continues to carve its niche in the Chinese automotive landscape, the Bao 3 promises to be a notable addition for those seeking a blend of style and off-road prowess.
