BYD’s sub-brand Fang Cheng Bao will launch and deliver the Tai 7 SUV, the second model in its Tai product line, in September, the company said.

Brand head Xiong Tianbo confirmed the plan in a Q&A session on Weibo, adding that the first batch of display vehicles is expected to arrive at Fang Cheng Bao stores by the end of August. The first production model of the Tai 7 rolled off the assembly line on August 11, preparing for deliveries in the fourth quarter.

The Tai 7 measures 4,999 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width and 1,865 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920 mm. Fang Cheng Bao said the model offers the largest interior space in its current lineup and will cater more to urban driving needs.

The SUV is equipped with BYD’s “God’s Eye” smart driving system and will be available in versions with and without LiDAR. The all-wheel-drive long-range variant carries a 35.6-kWh battery pack, offering a CLTC-rated electric range of up to 180 km, while the two-wheel-drive standard-range version uses a 26.6-kWh pack for a range of 135 km. Fully fueled and charged, the vehicle can achieve a combined range of more than 1,300 km.

On August 12, BYD unveiled a self-developed tablet, which will debut in the Tai 7. The Fang Cheng Bao brand was launched in August 2023 and currently markets the Bao 5 and Bao 8 hybrid off-road SUVs as well as the Tai 3 compact SUV. The Tai series, introduced in December 2024, is the brand’s second product line following the Bao series.
