Fang Cheng Bao, a sub-brand of BYD, has initiated pre-sales for its Bao 8 off-road SUV in China. The vehicle is priced between RMB 400,000 ($56,600) and RMB 500,000 and is offered in both six-seat and seven-seat configurations, the company announced via its social media channels.
Interested buyers can reserve the model with a refundable deposit of RMB 3,000, which includes perks such as priority production. Fang Cheng Bao expects to complete the first deliveries by November, with show cars already available in stores across China.
The Bao 8 is built on Fang Cheng Bao’s DMO platform, which features a dual-mode (DM) system designed for off-road capabilities. Powered by a 2.0 T engine and offering nearly 750 horsepower, the SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4.8 seconds. The vehicle boasts a range of over 1,200 kilometers, making it suitable for long-distance travel.
One of the model’s key features is the DiSus-P body control system, offering up to 200 mm of suspension adjustment. Additionally, the Bao 8 is the first BYD vehicle to integrate Huawei’s Qiankun ADS 3.0 intelligent driving system. This technology, designed for enhanced safety and efficiency, allows the SUV to drive autonomously between parking spaces. Fang Cheng Bao signed a partnership with Huawei in August to develop this smart driving solution specifically for off-road SUVs.
Fang Cheng Bao launched its first model, the Bao 5, in November 2023, just months after the brand’s establishment in August. The Bao 8 continues the brand’s expansion into the off-road SUV segment, combining advanced technology with robust performance.
