Chinese automaker BYD announced that its luxury Denza Z9 GT achieved a milestone, delivering 10,000 units just four months after its launch on September 20, 2024. The company claims the Z9 GT is the “fastest new energy luxury car” to surpass this mark, with an average sale price of 380,000 yuan ($52,000).
Offered in both fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, the Denza Z9 GT targets premium buyers, positioning itself to compete with luxury brands like Porsche and BMW. The EV variant is available in Pro and Max trims, starting at 354,800 yuan ($48,500) and 384,800 yuan ($52,600), respectively.

Powered by BYD’s tri-motor e3 platform, the all-electric model boasts nearly 1,000 hp, including a 308 hp (230 kW) front motor and dual rear motors delivering 644 hp (480 kW). The EV features a 100 kWh BYD battery pack, providing a CLTC range of over 391 miles (630 km), while the PHEV model offers up to 683 miles (1,100 km) of combined range.
The Denza Z9 GT measures 5,180 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width, and 1,500 mm in height, comparable to the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and Panamera GTS. Inside, the model features BYD’s in-house 9000 smart cockpit chip, developed with TSMC, enabling up to 11 connected screens.

Key interior highlights include a 13.2-inch driver display, a 17.3-inch infotainment system, a 13.2-inch passenger screen, and a 50-inch augmented reality head-up display (HUD).
