BYD’s premium brand Denza has previewed an updated version of its Z9GT, highlighting a battery-electric range of up to 1,036 kilometres under China’s CLTC test cycle, as competition intensifies in the high-end EV segment.

The company said the revised Z9GT will offer battery pack options of 102.326 kWh and 122.496 kWh, supporting CLTC ranges between 820 km and 1,036 km. A recent regulatory filing showed that the related Z9 sedan, using the same battery configurations, will provide CLTC ranges of 905 km to 1,068 km.

Denza said the new Z9GT represents a substantial increase over the previous version’s 630 km CLTC range. The model also retains the brand’s e3 triple-motor independent drive system, while introducing a new single-motor rear-wheel-drive variant with a maximum output of 370 kW.

In addition to battery-electric versions, Denza has filed for plug-in hybrid variants of the Z9 and Z9GT. These models will feature a 63.82 kWh battery pack, enabling a CLTC pure-electric range of more than 400 km. The earlier Z9GT PHEV offered a 201 km CLTC electric range.

Exterior updates include a new green paint option and repositioning of the LiDAR sensor to the roof to support the latest “God’s Eye 5.0” advanced driver assistance system.

Denza was founded in 2011 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler. BYD increased its stake to 90% in 2022, and Mercedes-Benz fully exited the venture in 2024. The Z9GT, launched in September 2024, marked Denza’s first flagship GT model under its independent operation.
