BYD is set to unveil a new hybrid sedan in their Ocean series during the Shanghai auto show. The official announcement of the model’s name, Destroyer 07, was made via Weibo post today, one day before the start of the auto show. The show will run from April 18 to 27, with media days on April 18 and 19, professional visitors’ days on April 20 and 21, and open to the general public from April 22 to 27.
BYD’s booth, located in Hall 7.1, will showcase their range of passenger cars, including the Dynasty and Ocean series. The Dynasty series will see a new addition, the Song L, an all-electric B-class SUV, introduced at the event.
The Destroyer 05, BYD’s current plug-in hybrid model in the Ocean series, was launched in March last year and has a starting price range of RMB 121,800 ($17,710) to RMB 157,800. Despite a 21.31% decrease in sales from February, the model still delivered 3,911 units in March.
Along with the unveiling of the new models, BYD announced that it sold 207,080 NEVs in March, up 97.45% from a year ago and 6.93% from February. This further solidifies the company’s position as a key player in the NEV market.
The Destroyer 07 and Song L are expected to generate significant interest during the Shanghai auto show, and their success will likely determine BYD’s future in the fiercely competitive automobile industry.
