China’s BYD will unveil the updated Seal 07 DM-i hybrid sedan this week, featuring a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor aimed at strengthening its advanced driver-assistance capabilities.
The company said on social media platform Weibo that the 2026 model-year version of the Seal 07 DM-i will debut on August 29, the opening day of the Chengdu auto show. Official images show the LiDAR system mounted on the roof, a feature not present in the earlier model.
According to BYD, “the 2026 Seal 07 DM-i will incorporate roof-mounted LiDAR to enhance safety and intelligent driving performance.”
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) will measure 4,995 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,495 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,900 mm. This represents a slight increase in size compared with the current Seal 07 DM-i, which was first launched in August 2024.
The updated model retains the same 1.5T engine with a maximum output of 115 kW and an electric motor producing up to 200 kW. It continues to be part of BYD’s fifth-generation Dual Mode (DM) hybrid technology, which offers lower fuel consumption than the earlier fourth-generation system.
The current Seal 07 DM-i is available in five variants priced between RMB 139,800 ($19,530) and RMB 195,800. BYD has not yet disclosed pricing details for the updated version.
