BYD executive Lu Tian today unveiled a video on Weibo showcasing the upcoming hybrid SUV, Song L DM-i, suggesting its launch may be on the horizon.
Lu Tian, general manager of BYD’s Dynasty lineup sales division, highlighted distinct features of the Song L DM-i, contrasting it with the previously launched Song L battery electric vehicle (BEV) and the Sea Lion 07 EV under BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 Evo platform.
The Song L DM-i, positioned as a mid-size SUV, is anticipated to integrate BYD’s DM 5.0 hybrid system, akin to the Qin L DM-i hybrid sedan. This technology promises improved fuel efficiency and extended combined range.
BYD introduced its fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) technology on May 28, featuring in models like the Qin L DM-i and Seal 06 DM-i, boasting ranges exceeding 2,000 kilometers on a single tank and battery charge.
Specifications for the Song L DM-i include a length of 4,780 mm, width of 1,898 mm, height of 1,670 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,782 mm, according to previous regulatory disclosures. In comparison, the Song L EV measures 4,840 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, 1,560 mm in height, with a longer wheelbase of 2,930 mm.
