Shenzhen Bus Group has announced the shortlisted winners for a procurement programme covering 1,220 electric buses in Guangdong Province, with a total tender value of ¥1.071601 billion (approximately €132 million).
The procurement process was originally launched on March 2, 2026 and later republished on the Shenzhen Sunshine Procurement Platform on April 17 following adjustments to the tender documentation. The results were publicly announced on May 15, according to Chinabuses.
The project is divided into three separate lots covering multiple electric bus categories and vehicle lengths.
Lot 1 covers the procurement of 725 low-floor electric buses in the 10- to 11-metre category. The contract was awarded to Skywell New Energy Automobile Group with a winning bid valued at ¥630.75 million (approximately €77.5 million).
Lot 2 includes 295 high-floor electric buses between 10 and 11 metres in length. Zhongtong Bus secured the contract with a winning bid of ¥264.851 million (approximately €32.5 million).
Lot 3 covers 200 low-floor electric buses in the 8- to 9-metre segment. BYD was selected for this portion of the procurement with a contract value of ¥176 million (approximately €21.6 million).
According to tender results published by Shenzhen Bus Group, the combined procurement value across all three lots totals ¥1.071601 billion.
The large-scale procurement reflects continued expansion of electric public transport fleets across China as cities accelerate low-emission urban mobility programmes and fleet electrification targets.
