BYD will officially launch its highly anticipated Seal 06 GT model on October 18, following its debut at the Chengdu Auto Show in August. Zhang Zhuo, BYDâs head of sales for the Ocean series, confirmed the launch date in a video shared on Weibo, adding that more detailed specifications will be revealed during the event.
BYD began taking reservations for the Seal 06 GT on August 30, offering a price range between RMB 150,000 ($21,370) and RMB 200,000, though specific variants have not yet been disclosed.
The Seal 06 GT is being positioned as the first rear-drive, all-electric performance hatchback designed for younger drivers, marking a significant move into the GT (Grand Tourer) segment.
The Seal 06 GT is built on BYDâs e-Platform 3.0 Evo and measures 4,630 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
The model will offer both single- and dual-motor options, with the dual-motor version featuring 110 kW and 200 kW motors on the front and rear, respectively. Notably, the car is equipped with an 800 V silicon carbide high-voltage platform, allowing it to charge from 30 percent to 80 percent in just 20 minutes.
BYD, which owns several brands including Denza, Yangwang, and Fang Cheng Bao, has seen strong sales in its Ocean and Dynasty series. In September, the Ocean series sold 194,099 vehicles, a 38.8 percent increase year-on-year, while the Dynasty series sold 204,605 vehicles, up 52.91 percent year-on-year.
