BYD launched the 2025 model of its Tang DM-i hybrid SUV on Friday, implementing the automaker’s new DM 5.0 hybrid system, which promises enhanced fuel efficiency. This marks the latest update for BYD’s Tang SUV, which previously saw a refresh with the Tang DM-i Glory Edition earlier this year.
The 2025 Tang DM-i is available in four trim levels, with starting prices of RMB 179,800 ($25,250), RMB 187,800, RMB 197,800, and RMB 207,800, respectively. Compared to the Tang DM-i Glory Edition launched in February, three of the new model’s variants are now priced RMB 2,000 to RMB 12,000 lower, while the entry-level price remains the same.
The seven-seater SUV measures 4,870 mm in length, 1,950 mm in width, and 1,725 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Powered by a 1.5L engine generating 115 kW and 225 Nm, it features a front-mounted electric motor producing 200 kW and 315 Nm, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The vehicle boasts an electric range of 115 kilometers under CLTC standards, with a total range of 1,150 kilometers when both the fuel tank and battery are fully charged.
BYD reported record NEV sales in September, reaching 419,426 units, a 45.91% increase from the previous year, marking four consecutive months of record sales. The Tang series contributed 12,552 units to September’s total, up 20.59% year-on-year.
