BYD has officially launched the Yuan Up, a compact SUV also known locally as the BYD S1 Pro, in Costa Rica. The introduction of this model enhances BYD’s presence in the Costa Rican market, where the company has established itself over the past decade. According to a company statement, the Yuan family of compact SUVs has emerged as the best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) model in the region.
During the launch week, the Yuan Up garnered over 100 pre-sale orders, indicating strong interest among consumers. The vehicle is built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 and utilizes the innovative Cell to Body (CTB) technology. It features an electric motor capable of delivering a maximum power of 130 kW, complemented by a battery range of 401 kilometers based on NEDC standards.
Pedro Dobles, general manager of Cori Motors, BYD’s authorized dealership in Costa Rica, highlighted the company’s long-standing collaboration with BYD, stating that they currently operate five stores in the country with plans to expand to eleven. “The introduction of the model further cements BYD’s reputation for delivering high-performance and safe vehicles, providing even more electric vehicle options for our customers,” Dobles remarked.
The Yuan Up was initially launched in China on March 26, 2024, offering four variants with starting prices ranging from RMB 96,800 ($13,800) to RMB 119,800.
