BYD’s fleet-focused sub-brand Linghui has launched the Linghui M9 business multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) in China, with prices starting at 188,800 yuan (approximately US$27,750).

The Linghui M9 is the third model introduced under the Linghui brand and the first MPV in its product portfolio, expanding the lineup beyond the brand’s existing electric sedans.

Hybrid MPV Targets Business Mobility

The Linghui M9 is based on the BYD Xia MPV and measures 5,200mm in length, 1,970mm in width and 1,805mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,045mm.

Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 115kW, paired with BYD’s fifth-generation DM plug-in hybrid technology. The model has a top speed of 190km/h and comes equipped with power sliding side doors.

The MPV features a 36.628kWh battery, providing an electric-only driving range of 160 kilometres. With a full battery and fuel tank, BYD says the Linghui M9 offers a combined driving range of up to 1,105 kilometres.

Linghui Expands Fleet Vehicle Portfolio

BYD introduced the Linghui brand in February to serve business mobility, corporate fleets and family transportation while distinguishing these products from the company’s mainstream consumer brands.

The strategy is intended to reduce the use of BYD’s core-brand vehicles in taxi and ride-hailing fleets, helping preserve the positioning of its passenger vehicle lineup while strengthening its dedicated fleet business.

Before launching the M9, Linghui introduced two battery-electric sedans.

The Linghui e7 entered the market in April with a starting price of 95,800 yuan (approximately US$14,090), targeting ride-hailing operators. The flagship Linghui e9 followed in May, priced from 150,800 yuan (approximately US$22,180), positioning it as a C-segment electric sedan based on the BYD Han.

The e9 is equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and the company’s latest flash-charging technology, which can charge the battery from 10% to 70% in about five minutes.

Linghui said its vehicles will also incorporate several of BYD’s core technologies, including the God’s Eye advanced driver-assistance system and the DiSus intelligent body control system.

With the addition of the M9, the Linghui brand now offers both sedan and MPV models as it broadens its presence in China’s commercial mobility market.
