BYD has made significant strides in boosting its factory capacity over the past three months to sustain its ongoing sales growth in the new energy vehicle (NEV) market. According to He Zhiqi, the company’s executive vice president, BYD increased its production capacity by nearly 200,000 units during the August to October period, as announced on Weibo.

While He did not provide specifics, it is expected that this capacity increase pertains to the monthly production rate. BYD’s monthly sales surged from approximately 370,000 units in August to 500,000 units in October, reflecting the company’s rapid growth trajectory.

To support this expansion, BYD’s vehicle and parts divisions have added nearly 200,000 new employees, and all production sites are currently operating at full capacity. He noted that the scale of this production ramp-up is unprecedented, attributing the success to the considerable efforts of teams in production and procurement.

Looking ahead, He expressed optimism for continued progress, stating, “In November, we will continue to work hard and tap into all kinds of potential to see if we can progress a little bit more.” In October, BYD reported sales of 502,657 NEVs, surpassing the 500,000 mark for the first time and achieving a record high for the fifth consecutive month, according to data released on November 1.
