BYD has unveiled its latest addition to the Colombian electric vehicle (EV) market, the Seal battery electric vehicle (BEV). This marks the second Ocean series model introduced by BYD in Colombia, following the launch of the Dolphin in December 2022.
The Seal, built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0, stands out as the company’s pioneer model utilizing CTB (cell to body) technology, offering an impressive WLTC range of 520 kilometers. Beyond range, the Seal boasts the iTAC intelligent torque control system, delivering enhanced handling capabilities and a swift acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
BYD’s strategic partnership with its Colombian dealer, Motorisa, initiated in 2020, played a pivotal role in the Seal’s successful launch in the Colombian market. Presently, BYD operates seven new energy passenger car stores in Colombia, strategically situated in Bogota, Medellin, Cali, and Pereira. Looking ahead, BYD has plans to expand its retail footprint in the country by adding five more stores by the end of the year.
Colombia saw the introduction of BYD’s Ocean series with the Dolphin’s launch in December 2022, marking the beginning of the brand’s EV presence in the nation. In addition to the Dolphin, BYD presented the Yuan Plus EV from its Dynasty family, known as the Atto 3 in most international markets, to Colombian consumers in October 2022.
Expanding beyond Colombian borders, BYD also announced the introduction of the Dolphin in Nepal in collaboration with local dealer Cimex Inc.
The Dolphin, which made its official debut in China on August 29, 2021, not only serves as BYD’s first Ocean series product but also showcases the company’s innovative e-Platform 3.0 technology. This latest move underscores BYD’s commitment to advancing the adoption of electric vehicles in Colombia and other global markets.
