Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has delivered its 10,000th new energy vehicle in Cambodia, marking a milestone for the company six years after entering the Southeast Asian market.
The milestone vehicle was the Fangchengbao Ti 7 sport utility vehicle, one of BYD’s newer models being promoted in overseas markets.
BYD officially entered Cambodia in 2020 through local partner Hramony Auto, which opened the company’s first 4S dealership and began sales operations in the country.
The automaker’s market presence expanded from 2022 following the introduction of the ATTO 3, marketed in China as the Yuan Plus, helping the company gain momentum in Cambodia’s growing electric vehicle sector.
BYD has since launched more than 10 models in Cambodia across multiple vehicle categories, including compact city cars, multipurpose vehicles and both battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
The company said core sales volumes in Cambodia have been driven by models including the Seagull, ATTO 3 and Sealion 5 and 6. Premium-oriented offerings such as the Han, Tang, M9 — marketed in China as the Denza D9 — and the Ti 7 have supported BYD’s expansion into higher-end market segments.
In China, the Ti 7 EV Flash-Charge Edition was launched in late April with two variants priced from 199,800 yuan ($29,390). The vehicle features BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology.
According to company figures, the model offers a maximum driving range of 755 kilometres and can charge from 10% to 97% in approximately nine minutes.
BYD is also moving forward with localisation plans in Cambodia. Construction began in April last year on the company’s new energy passenger vehicle factory in Sihanoukville Province, which BYD said would become Cambodia’s first passenger EV production facility.
The first phase of the plant is planned with an annual production capacity of 10,000 vehicles and will operate under a completely knocked down (CKD) assembly model.
BYD has also reported rapid sales growth in the Cambodian market. During the opening of the Harmony Auto ICAR BYD and Denza dual-brand flagship centre in Phnom Penh earlier this year, the company said it ranked first among automotive brands in Cambodia during the fourth quarter of 2025, recording monthly sales of more than 700 units for three consecutive months.
